In July of 2019 my in laws took us on a charter fishing trip in South Haven, MI. We got up early that morning, gathered our fishing gear, and set off for our sport fishing trip. We met with Cory, owner of HookUp Charters, and his main man Otter. We boarded their boat, Pursuit, and soon took off out into Lake Michigan. We weren’t the only boat out on that really hot summer day. There were a lot of people enjoying their time on the water and visiting the famous lighthouse. As we set out, Cory and Otter asked around what we did for jobs, hobbies, and shared their own stories. They were ecstatic that I brought my camera to capture the memories of our trip.

Right off the bat the boys got their very first fish. Brian captured the first and the biggest fish. We got a few other bites after that, catching some more trout and salmon. We were especially excited to catch a Steelhead Salmon, decent size and had a prominent blue stripe down his back. After our first couple catches the lines died down and the sun got hotter. The sky was very hazy and it was hard to even see another boat in the distance. While we waited for the fish we talked with the captains and told fishing stories and life stories as well. Cory and Otter were very funny and just a pleasure to be around. A great pair to make you smile and make sure you have a good time.

When we returned and got back to the dock we got to watch Cory gut and clean the fish. Onlookers from a local restaurant right on the dock were amazed by what the guys caught. We loaded the fish into our coolers, thanked them for the fun trip, and headed on out to grab some food and go home to relax.
